To showcase the best of San Diego’s creative community, for the 2000, 13th San Diego Creative Directory, Hollis worked with John Schulz Photography. Hollis created a fictitious product, called Creative Juice, asking if only there was a way to bottle all of the collective talent combined within this source book. The concept was to have “no design” in the form of typography or layout as an obvious part of the book cover outside of the photography itself. All pertinent information for the directory was limited to the confines of the featured product. A proprietary print process was incorporated to lift key elements up from the photographic image and create a superbly understated and tactile message.

    I love that there is a side of the can designed that isn’t even in the cover photo. Wish I could read the copy!

    Will have to post additional pics. Table of contents and inside spreads featured the other sides and back. Imbibe regularly – it really works!
