American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA)

National Y Design Conference, San Diego Chapter: 2001 Y6, California

Continuing a communications format Hollis established the preceding year, Connectivity was conceived as a theme inviting a review of interrelated disciplines and the role design, and the designer, plays in our communities. This dissection of skills and examination of social responsibilities was paralleled by visual metaphor, with a sliced lime–showing networks and interrelated structure to demonstrate that we are part of something bigger than our own immediate environment. Scientific visuals included programming and event details in the form of charts, graphs and photography in addition to an online flash video and conference website. The results included free national exposure and an over–sold event for a second consecutive year.
